Year 4 - Session 6 - Week 1
Week one of session 6 looked a bit different as Mrs. EB stepped into guiding and a new hero joined our studio. We had an amazing 5 days of teambuilders, imaginative play, one-on-ones and so much more!
Of course the week had to start off with the heroes adopting a snake, Sammy, and moving him indoors to a supposed-to-be locked habitat. Little did Mrs. EB know, the snake escaped to the floor a few feet from her. Long story, or video if you get the pleasure of viewing it, short the snake took a vacation on a flight to the neighbor's yard....forever.
We embarked on our Agriculture quest where we watched clips from Down to Earth (Zac Efron documentary on Netflix), calculated our carbon footprint, constructed innovative creations out of recyclable materials and making a comic strip using the prompt: "Imagine you are a piece of garbage. Share your journey from being purchased and used to going to the landfill."
You may have felt your hero convincing you of all the ways that you need a chinchilla or bunny or gecko as a pet. Don't worry, the is a school Pitch a Pet challenge. Through research and writing, they will be attempting to persuade their audience to vote their chosen animal as the Discovery studios' next pet. Let me just tell you...the strategies they are using are nothing short of Black Ops mission.
Lydia, Brynnlee, and Halle were chose as Council for this session. We look forward to them leading Town Halls in the weeks to come.
One-on-ones with Mrs. EB were fruitful, reassuring and encouraging. Every hero is working very hard with clear understandings of their badge plans and goals. Don't forget to meet with them weekly to check-in with a few questions:
*What was the most challenging thing you worked on this week?
*What are 2 goals you achieved?
*Who is your favorite character in your badge book? Why?
*How did you help someone this week?
*What process is most important in keeping your studio running well?
*How have you been intentional in your work this week?
*What quest challenge did you work on?
*What step in the Writing Process are you on for your Pitch a pet?
*How are you contributing to a positive culture?
